Clinical Laboratory Technician
Team
- Crewmate Team
Role Description
- Active Ability: Collect
- Collects a specimen from the targeted crew member.
- If specimens are collected from two crew members within the same turn, a tissue compatibility test is performed at the start of the meeting phase.
- If a meeting is called before the ability is used on two players, the target selection status is reset.
- In this case, the ability use count is not consumed.

- Passive Ability: Tissue Compatibility Test
- If specimen collection has been completed, at the start of the meeting phase, determines whether the two crew members belong to the same team or different teams, then sends the result in chat.
- If they are on the same team:
The specimens did not react.
Specimen 1 and Specimen 2 appear to be on the same team. - If they are on different teams:
The specimens caused a rejection reaction.
Specimen 1 and Specimen 2 appear to be on different teams.
- If they are on the same team:
- There are four types of team determination methods.

- In SHR mode, if a player without the mod installed performs a kill on the same crew member as the first collection target (uses Collect), the kill fails without triggering a guardian effect.
- In SHR mode, the initial collection cooldown for players with the mod installed is set to 10 seconds regardless of the setting.
- It is set to the same cooldown as players without the mod installed.

Purpose of the Role
- Concept
- A Crewmate role that can examine connections between players through a different approach than Sheriff
- While Sheriff cannot determine detailed connections between teams, Clinical Laboratory Technician can determine detailed connections between teams depending on the settings.
- It is also recommended as a balance adjustment option when, due to the role setup or the village’s skill level, Sheriff’s ability to “reduce non-Crewmates through means other than exile” is too strong.
- A Crewmate role that can examine connections between players through a different approach than Sheriff
Comparison Between Sheriff and Clinical Laboratory Technician
- How results are presented
- Sheriff: Killing the target or committing suicide
- Other players can see that the ability was used.
- The number of living crew members decreases.
- Can resist PP.
- Clinical Laboratory Technician: Private chat
- Other players cannot see that the ability was used.
- The number of living crew members does not decrease.
- Cannot resist PP.
- Sheriff: Killing the target or committing suicide
- Methods of examining connections
- Sheriff: Determines whether the target is a non-Crewmate, obtains information for organizing the situation, and reasons based on that information.
- Advantages
- Can determine whether the target is a non-Crewmate or belongs to the Crewmate team.
- If the target can be killed, they are always a non-Crewmate (Impostor, Jackal, or another third-party role); if they cannot be killed, they are a Crewmate.
- Can determine whether the target is a non-Crewmate or belongs to the Crewmate team.
- Disadvantages
- Since it only determines whether the target is a “non-Crewmate (killable target),” it cannot determine whether the crew member connected by a line is on the same team.
- Because it can only determine whether someone is a non-Crewmate or belongs to the Crewmate team, it cannot rule out that the relationship being treated as a line is actually Impostor–Crewmate or Impostor–Jackal.
- Weak as information for identifying lines.
- Since it only determines whether the target is a “non-Crewmate (killable target),” it cannot determine whether the crew member connected by a line is on the same team.
- Advantages
- Clinical Laboratory Technician: Determines whether the two selected targets are on the same team, directly checking their connection.
- Advantages
- Provides not only whether they are Crewmates or non-Crewmates, but also more detailed team information. (When third-party roles are included in the setup.)
- For example, if Jackal and Sidekick are tested, the result will be: [The specimens did not react. Specimen 1 and Specimen 2 appear to be on the same team.]
- There is no drawback when the determination fails, and since the ability is completed privately, it is easy to use early in the game. (In Sheriff–Madmate setups.)
- Since lines are often formed and information tends to become chaotic, checking lines early helps organize information and connect it to later deduction.
- Provides not only whether they are Crewmates or non-Crewmates, but also more detailed team information. (When third-party roles are included in the setup.)
- Disadvantages
- Since it determines whether the targets are “on the same team,” it cannot determine whether the targets are non-Crewmates or belong to the Crewmate team.
- Whether both are on the Crewmate team or both are on the Impostor team, the result will be [The specimens did not react. Specimen 1 and Specimen 2 appear to be on the same team.], so it cannot determine whether that line is a non-Crewmate line.
- Weak as information for judging whether information provided by players is true or false.
- Since it determines whether the targets are “on the same team,” it cannot determine whether the targets are non-Crewmates or belong to the Crewmate team.
- Advantages
- Sheriff: Determines whether the target is a non-Crewmate, obtains information for organizing the situation, and reasons based on that information.
