About “Redirect Rooms”
Creating redirect rooms and joining redirect rooms is prohibited.
What is a “redirect room”?
- A room created on the official Among Us servers with the purpose of redirecting players to a modded room.
- Examples that fall under this:
- You (or someone you know) host a vanilla room on the official Among Us servers (Asia / North America / Europe) and tell participants the code for a modded room.
- You (including an alt account) or someone you know joins a vanilla room on the official Among Us servers as a guest and tells (advertises) the code for a modded room to participants.
- You or someone you know creates a public (“random”) room, or joins a public room to become friends with players, and then invites them to your room.
- Examples that are allowed:
- Posting a room code on X (formerly Twitter) and recruiting players while clearly stating that it is a modded room.
- Sharing a modded room code and playing within a Discord server that only includes people you know.
- Posting a room code in an Among Us recruitment Discord server and recruiting players while clearly stating that it is a modded room.
Why are redirect rooms not allowed?
- Because, based on a notice from Innersloth (the official Among Us developer), we interpret that developers of so-called host-based mods (including SNR) are not allowed to publicly host modded rooms on the official servers in a way that vanilla players can join unconditionally.
- The background is believed to be that vanilla players who don’t know about mods may unintentionally enter a modded room and play without realizing it’s modded; as a result, they may mistake mod-related issues for bugs in Among Us itself and submit many inquiries to the official support.
- Innersloth has also issued warnings to prevent “mod experiences that users did not intend.”
- For these reasons, we consider it prohibited to publish or share information in unlimited public rooms where you can match with people who are unaware that mods exist.
- Therefore, redirect rooms are also treated as prohibited behavior.
