Can’t launch after installing the mod
- There are several possible causes, but first, please double-check that you meet all prerequisites in Installation Guide.
- If you still can’t launch even after meeting everything, these may be the causes:
Case 1The mod version doesn’t match your Among Us game version- This often happens right after the base game updates. Make sure the mod you’re trying to install supports your game version.
Case 2Your antivirus software is preventing the mod files from downloading- If you’ve installed additional antivirus software, it may prevent the game from launching. For typical use, Windows’ built-in protection is sufficient, so uninstalling the extra antivirus is the easiest solution.
- If you can’t uninstall it due to work or other reasons, add the mod’s folder to the exclusion list, or temporarily turn off protection for the first launch.
- In this case, it’s often only the first launch that fails—once you can launch successfully, re-enabling protection usually won’t cause issues.
-
Case 3Your vanilla settings are in a broken state- This is especially likely right after a major vanilla update.
- It happens very often if you play on the latest vanilla version and then try to play on an older version.
-
You can fix it with the steps below, but since this involves editing hidden files, if you’re not comfortable with that, wait for a mod update instead (at your own risk).
How to reset vanilla settings directly
Step 1Open:C:\Users\YourLocalUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Innersloth\Among Us- The AppData folder is hidden, so please look up how to show it (it depends on your OS).
- If you don’t understand what the path above means, this is not recommended.
Step 2Deletesettings.amogus.
Case 4You see FatalError and the game won’t launch- In most cases, this happens when you’ve installed another mod alongside SNR.
- Make sure you install only one mod per vanilla game installation.
- Also, on the Epic version, this can happen if you swap files while the launcher is running.
- If it happens, restart the Epic launcher.
I installed the mod, but the logo doesn’t show up!
- There are several possible causes, but first, please double-check that you meet all prerequisites in Installation Guide.
- If you still can’t launch even after meeting everything, these may be the causes:
Case 1Your antivirus software deleted the mod files- Without naming specific software, there have been many reports of launch issues when a certain free antivirus program is installed. For typical use, Windows’ built-in protection is sufficient, so uninstalling the extra antivirus is the easiest solution.
- If you can’t uninstall it due to work or other reasons, add the mod’s folder to the exclusion list.
Case 2(Epic version) The mod files aren’t being recognized properly- Mainly on the Epic version, if the mod is installed under
ProgramFiles, it may not be recognized correctly. - Change the Among Us install location to somewhere outside ProgramFiles (e.g., your Desktop).
- Mainly on the Epic version, if the mod is installed under
I can’t press the Start button!
- If you’re playing in normal mode, everyone must have the same mod version installed.
If error display is enabled, it will show whose setup is causing the issue—ask that player to fix it.
Non-PC players can’t join my room!
- In the game’s general settings, uncheck
Kick non-PC players. - If that doesn’t fix it, uncheck
Ban players without friend codes. - However, this setting is mainly for players (often minors) who don’t have friend codes, so turning it OFF is generally not recommended.
When I host a room, I get banned from it!
- This is a common bug, often occurring right after playing on a custom server.
- From the title screen, go to
Play→Local→Classic, host a local room, then reset vanilla settings by going toGame Presets→Core Settings→Number of Roles. - After that, try hosting online again (mainly on vanilla servers) and check whether you can host successfully.
- Since your vanilla settings were reset, you’ll need to configure them again.
I can’t use mod hats/visors, etc.! (Android only)
- If you’re playing on a mobile network like 4G/5G, downloads are disabled and the data won’t be downloaded.
- Please connect to Wi‑Fi and try again.
If none of the above fixes it
- Please contact us via the Official MOD Discord.
